“No one has ever become poor by giving.”Anne Frank
The Tiny Free Farm Stand builds community in the Excelsior District of San Francisco through sharing food, plants, and books.
The Tiny accepts donations including produce from neighbors’ trees and gardens, as well as re-distributed produce and packaged, shelf-stable food items. Our donations come from individuals, families, other community pantries, food banks, and area businesses.
In turn, we offer a generous, judgement-free experience of receiving. We provide for people experiencing food insecurity. We offer busy families quick needs for their meals. We provide new foods for people to try, new-to-you books to read, and new plants to bring home.
We strive to focus on giving, receiving, and abundance as an opportunity to create and nourish our community. We seek to counter the fear and isolation that can come with city life with a commitment to compassion, generosity, and trust.
The Tiny Free Farm Stand was founded on July 5, 2019, in the Excelsior district of San Francisco, to share plants and backyard produce among our neighbors.
With the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown, we have expanded our mission to sharing store-bought produce and kitchen staples like canned and dried foods.
On July 8, 2020, we welcomed the Tiny Free Library, built by an anonymous donor and painted by some of our young neighbors.
On November 7, 2020, we added a donated refrigerator/freezer to the Tiny for perishables.
On April 11, 2021, we upgraded our fridge to a full apartment-sized unit.
On August 8, 2021, we moved to 724 Brazil Ave, in front of Engine 43 Art Studio.
The Tiny is open 24/7/365, so you can always come by to share what you have or see what’s available. View map.
